Microblading is the treatment everyone is talking about, but what is it?
Microblading is a semi-permeant eyebrow treatment which uses individually drawn hair strokes to create natural looking brows.

Unlike traditional tattooing, the aesthetician uses a hand-piece with tiny blades on to create small incisions in the skin which are then soaked in pigment. As this is done with a hand-piece rather than machine the stokes are much more precise, making each look like a single hair. Due to the natural results this treatment has taken the beauty industry by storm with clients ranging from a-list celebrities to alopecia sufferers.

Due to the natural looking results of this treatment it is suitable for everyone. Whether you have sparse hair or just want to cut down on getting ready in a morning, microblading is the perfect treatment. As each hair stoke is drawn by hand brows can be made as full as you like, and each persons brows are individual to them. No template is used, instead measurements are taken to see where the brows should start and end and the shape is drawn on by hand. Your therapist will discuss every step with you to make sure you are completely happy with the shape and fullness. An individually mixed pigment is also used, meaning the therapist can create the perfect shade for you so your brows look as natural as they can.

Once the measurements have been done your therapist will start the procedure. The first few strokes allow the therapist to start the shape of the brows, which will then be built on. After the first passes a topical numbing gel is used which means the rest of the treatment proceeds without much discomfort.

The treatment itself takes around 2 hours to complete from measurements and colour matching to finished brows. Once the initial treatment has been completed you will be asked to come back into the clinic 6-8 weeks later for a top up which allows the therapist to fill in any areas that have lost pigment due to healing.

During the healing process your skin will scab, but it is essential not to touch this as it will affect how the skin takes the pigment. You will be given a lubricant to use on your brows after 10 days to help with the healing process. Your therapist will go through everything with you on the day of your treatment and give you an aftercare leaflet to take home with you.

The results of Microblading last anywhere from 12 months to 3 years, depending on your skin type and lifestyle. A top-up appointment is advised between 12 & 18 months to work on any areas that have faded, however other than this microbladed eyebrows take very little upkeep.
